Then, they are living happily ever after…. It’s one of those kind of ending again.
Well, this anime reboot is a letdown. It had much premise since the beginning of the anime, but it seems Toei didn’t care about its quality anymore.
For the most part, the anime adapted very well with its manga counterpart. It was just your another typical magical girl storyline where the good people must defeat the evil forces. The way they handled the animation parts, it was very poor. It made most of the fights looked pretty cheap. The characters’ proportions were sometimes out of place, resulted a bizarre looking character in some parts. It was understandable for the fact that it was a ’90s show but the remake should be more beautiful than that, right?
The usage of 3DCG in the girls’ transformation was choppy and sluggish. On top of that, Chibiusa was the only one who received a special treatment for the 2D transformation. Unfairness at its finest. Other than that, musics were somewhat good, I like some of the tracks especially during the battles but the rest were forgettable. I love the opening music, +1 to Revo’s awesomeness.
Overall, Sailor Moon Crystal is a half-assed anime adaptation in magical girl genre. Despite the negativity I had with this anime, I still enjoyed the ride of my childhood age. It really deserves a good reboot only if Toei handled it really well. I guess the bi-weekly episodes didn’t really paid off that much.
