Mid-term exams are finally over, got a week of holiday before lecture session will resume. A good opportunity to wrap this thing up. Be warned that this review CONTAIN SPOILERS though. But… is it worth to hide spoilers…?
The ending is a garbage. No one dies in the end, hell yeah! What can you expect from an anime originally made by Urobuchi? The first 3 eps were well-established plot by him, but after his departure from writing the story from that point, a new writer came in & he ruined it. So much controversial things happened throughout the episodes as the common sense wasn’t really common for this series. Like Inahobot and his ‘broken’ eye for example. Plus, the asspulls were real this time. There was some scenes where Slaine was so lucky he could manage to escape from multiple shots that came from multiple directions. At least make him injured or something…
I have some things to criticize about Slaine’s action for this finale, especially the self-destruction part. Okay, Slaine made a stupid move by surrendering to the Earth forces and on top of that, he was going to kill himself by self-destructing the whole Moon base. I thought he will die with some pride left in him and in the end, people will remember him… right…? But when Inaho appeared, he was suddenly like “Screw this! Time for final battle with Inaho that people are waiting for.” Haha, Slaine…. You’ll never cease to amuse me.
Asseylum’s relationship between those two? Absolutely nothing special. So who won her heart? Absolutely none other than the Count that appeared out of nowhere, only shows up in 3 eps, son of Crutheo, Klancain. Nice, so he’s the real MVP for this series LOL!
Okay, I’m done with ranting for real. From what I understand from its story basis, I thought it had a lot of potential to be honest. I think it was like Code Geass… NO! Don’t even compare with that anime, I take that back LOL! What I didn’t like is the way it’ll be executed and the result, it doesn’t make sense to me. I feel sorry for Urobuchi simply because someone ruined his well-established plot in the first 3 eps of Aldnoah.Zero… If he was sticking to it until the final episode, that would’ve been one hell of a great anime.
Other than the story & character elements, the animation quality was quite more of the same from the previous cour. Musics… nothing new to me. Sawano’s tracks are quite good but they got old pretty fast if being used repetitively. I’m not a fan of battle musics with repetitive techno music and such to be honest. I really miss his style from Gundam Unicorn.
In the end, I’m a bit disappointed about the end of this anime. There are some questions left unanswered, like who really is Slaine’s father, Dr. Troyard? I heard his name mentioned a couple of times but no one revealed him in person. Then how about Heaven’s Fall? We don’t even get a real picture of it. Yet, Aniplex still hasn’t announce the 2nd season. But it’s good to left it unannounced because this anime is already a mixed bag of goodness, but sucks in the end.
….I enjoyed the drama though, LMAO!
