Back then I wanted to write these reviews but I couldn’t because I was too busy with RL stuff. Now, almost 3 months later (and also Fall season is about to end) I have time to do this review but I’ll keep it brief. Let’s cut to the chase, shall we?
THE REVIEWS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
One of the best in Spring to Summer 2014. The characters are pretty likeable, not to mention the atmosphere during the match like the audiences cheered for their teams. Each of them has its own unique chant, that really gave a little charm to it. Storywise, it was pretty enjoyable though in the end it gave me throwbacks to the final episodes of the KnK season 1. Ouch, the truth itches huh? Each of the characters had a chance to show how they were really special to certain cases. The ‘feels’ exists here too. The feel of being defeated, the determination, the courage, etc. The match was realistic so far, no asspulls whatsoever. Enjoyed the music very much. Really gave me that hype feeling. I hope they’ll keep the composers for the next season. They got the job done for the animation too.

ALDNOAH.ZERO 「アルドノア・ゼロ」 SEASON 1
The early episodes were really promising due to the fact that Urobuchi wrote the scripts for them. The latter ones were alright but there were some asspulls that I don’t like. When it reached the season climax, everything went down to ‘zero’ which follows the title perfectly, get it? The story has its ups and downs but overall, it was fairly done well. Musics are pretty magnificent. Some people said Sawano’s musical style was simply copy & paste stuffs but I think all of them were his unique composition though. Animation is fairly good with the exception of CG mecha, at first I don’t really like the way it was animated but sooner or later I got used to it. Some of the characters were underdeveloped to be honest. That’s one main issue here. See Marito for example, he was like the most useless character in the series when it comes to overcoming his tragic past. Anyway, I’m looking forward to the 2nd cour to witness how things hugely changed after that ending. Slaine as the anti-hero protagonist maybe…?

PERSONA 4 THE GOLDEN ANIMATION 「ペルソナ4 ザ・ゴールデンアニメーション」
You should have a full knowledge of P4 in order to enjoy this anime. 12 episodes for a single game seems too rushed for me, but in the end I think it was an alright adaptation since they treated it as a New Game+ speedrun LOL. They made many changes from the game, like Marie’s involvement in the main story events, meeting with Margaret in Hollow Forest, the battles and that final Izanami fight which turned out into the lamiest final boss battle. Some changes were welcoming but others didn’t really stand out. Animations were really improved thanks to the studio change from AIC ASTA to A-1 Pictures. They had some experience for the cutscenes in the original P4 game, so I think it was the best option for the change. Music was enjoyable, most of the tracks were reused from the game but Shoji made some new tracks & I found them quite good to listen to them. Overall, it’s not that perfect but at the same time it’s not that bad. I would like to call this as the fanservice-y adaptation for Persona fans out there. Not recommended for P4 newbies, so playing its game (P4G for Vita is the best) is the most preferrable option to enjoy the plot.

TOKYO ESP 「東京ESP」
Probably the worst, if not one of the worst anime this season. Rushed adaptation, cliche plot & dialog lines, uninnovative character designs which were ripoffs from some comic books, underwhelming musics & obscure SFX that could met their expectations but couldn’t in the end. I can only praise the good-looking backgrounds & the animation but not on the mindblowing level though. Nothing much to say about this, so yeah….

TERROR IN RESONANCE 「残響のテロル」
So much mystery, so much suspense & dramatic moments, it’s definitely the Anime of the Season hands down. Fuji TV’s noitaminA timeslot always deliver great anime each season. The animation looks gorgeous & beautiful. Musics are astounding as always by Yoko Kanno. The story and direction for this series were executed pretty well. It’s like you’re watching an ordinary live action drama series. Most anime nowadays are quite rare to follow this apporach, I hope more anime will follow soon. Speaking of the characters, Shibazaki was a badass cop when dealing with the large scale terrorist threats. Nine & Twelve still cares about the lives of innocent people despite being labled as the most wanted terrorists. The only character that I want to criticize is Lisa for being a bland character & a plot device throughtout the series. Overall, this is a well-matured anime for you guys (especially those who are too tired about otaku fanservice stuff, including myself LOL). Another great anime that Shiniciro Watanabe delivered to us.
